Numero Uno Food Diary Entry
Eating breakfast for me is essential. Some people will argue that the slogan “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” is a marketing ploy for cereal and breakfast food companies. The origin of that saying may be true, BUT as any other meal of the day the first one IS also important. Personally, I can not think of anything more motivating for getting out of bed than a yummy breakfast and cup of joe 🙂 Seriously, breakfast gives me the energy I need to start my day, helps me to not chew my arm off before lunch or over eat at lunch and most importantly gets my metabolism going ASAP. Here is what an expert from the Mayo Clinic has to say about breakfast: www.mayoclinic.com/health/food-and-nutrition/AN01119
Here is what I ate this morning:
Two cups of half caffeinated black coffee.
Thomas Bagel Thin with Smart Balance Light Spread with Flax and Streamline Organic Raspberry Jam.
Bob’s Red Mill 8 Grain Hot Cereal with fresh blueberries, walnut pieces, cinnamon and Goodflow Honey. Tip: I usually make the hot cereal at the begining of the week to have enough for a couple of days for convenience purposes. To re-heat you just need to add a little water before sticking it in the micro. FYI: when this jar of honey runs out I will be buying Round Rock Honey. It is said that the bee’s used for Goodflow Honey are kept in San Antonio, which is too far from Austin to be considered local. Round Rock Honey bee’s are kept in Round Rock. (check my link below to learn more about the health benefits of local honey and Round Rock Honey Co.)

I also had 2 cups of coffee, 4 tablespoons of yogart, 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese, five tablespoons of oatmeal with cinnimon, walnuts, honey and a little skim milk. Chase it with about four ounces of Florida Natural orange juice and I’m ready for whatever!
Sounds good, Dad!
